Back: The Prodigal Son, by Clark Kelley Price, oil on canvas, 36″ x 24″, 1989.

Inside front cover: The Morning Breaks, by Glen S. Hopkinson, oil on canvas, 30″ x 60″, 1994. Often working from dawn to dusk, Latter-day Saint pioneers ferried their families and possessions across several rivers on their trek west. At times, lines were long for the ferry transportation, but when conditions cooperated, as they did for a time near Fort Laramie at the Platte River, crossings were accomplished quickly—about 10 minutes per wagon.

Inside back cover: Peace, A Gift of God, quilt by Norma H. Jones, 1993. Representing the worldwide growth of the Church, this quilt features an umbrella representing the refuge the gospel can bring to each of us. A warm light shines through houses of various cultures, depicting that faith can also shine through every countenance, no matter who we are or where we live.
