The Eyes of the Blind Shall See

From “The Eyes of the Blind Shall See” by Elder Lynn G. Robbins of the Presidency of the Seventy

Elder Lynn G. Robbins of the Presidency of the Seventy has taught: “One of the most common of the Savior’s miracles was restoring eyesight to the blind. The Savior’s more important mission and miracle, however, was healing the spiritually blind. ‘I am come into this world,’ He said, ‘that they which see not might see’ (John 9:39).”

Elder Robbins shares one way the Lord heals spiritual blindness. He said, “We may consider the coming forth of the Book of Mormon as a miraculous restoration of spiritual eyesight.”

Here are three ways the Book of Mormon can open our spiritual eyes and bless our lives:

  1. The Book of Mormon gives clarity to the Bible and serves as a second eyewitness of Jesus Christ.
  2. The Book of Mormon provides protection against Satan and confounds false doctrines (see 2 Nephi 3:12).
  3. The Book of Mormon clears misconceptions and removes obstacles to understanding.

President Ezra Taft Benson (1899–1994) testified of the Book of Mormon: “There is a power in the book which will begin to flow into your lives the moment you begin a serious study of the book. You will find greater power to resist temptation. You will find the power to avoid deception. You will find the power to stay on the strait and narrow path” (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Ezra Taft Benson [2014], 141).
