Make Your Own Brontosaurus

You will need: pencil, paper 10″ x 25″, pins, 27″ x 45″ piece of cloth, scissors, needle and thread, wire, stuffing, two buttons for eyes, and felt.

  1. Draw a large grid on paper with lines 1″ apart. Looking at small grid illustrated, redraw pattern pieces onto larger grid, matching square for square.

  2. Pin pattern pieces onto cloth that is folded with right sides together. Cut around pattern edges, remembering to cut out four leg and four circle pieces. Remove patterns, then pin main body pieces with right sides together around edges and stitch by machine or hand, making 1/2″ seams. Leave openings for stuffing as indicated on pattern.

  3. Clip seams at curves, being careful not to cut through stitching (see illustration).

  4. Turn animal body inside out and stuff tail and body. Sew tail closed by hand. Cut piece of wire 3″ longer than neck and head. Bend ends of wire 1/2″ to form loops (see illustration).

Place wire inside head and neck. Sew ends of wire to dinosaur. Stuff head and neck. Sew neck closed by hand.
