My Dad

“My Dad,” Friend, June 1985, 40

My Dad

My dad can do most anything—

Work, play ball, and even sing.

He fixes my train when it won’t start

And knows how to mend a broken heart.

He hugs my mom and winks at me,

Then says he loves his family.

Dad’s strong but has a gentle way.

Usually busy, he’s fun when we play.

But Dad can be serious when we pray at night

Or talk about Jesus and doing what’s right.

Most of all, he’s an example to me

Of the kind of person I want to be.
