Gently, calmly, faithfully,
Traveling onward carefully;
Floppy ears and droopy tail,
Steady feet on mountain trail—
Uncomplaining dignity,
Burden borne most patiently,
On it went, though days were long,
Nights were cold, and winds were strong.
Stars were brighter than before
As the travelers waited at the door.
There was no room for them to stay.
They found a manger filled with hay.
The Baby slept while angels high
Guided humble shepherds nigh.
And by that manger filled with hay
A tired little donkey lay.
