Bedtime Thoughts

    The wallpaper in my bedroom

Has a hundred boats or more,

With here and there a lighthouse

    Standing bravely on the shore.

And here and there a floating buoy—

    Hear its lulling bell?—

Gently bobs as gulls fly o’er

    A green and grayish swell.

    I wonder if it’s possible

    That on some magic night

I’ll climb aboard one of those boats

    And sail out of sight.
