I scan the coast and stop to stare
At ocean liners lying there
And marvel at the sights I’d see
If I could journey off to sea.
I’d palace-dine in Zanzibar,
Buy treasures at a quaint bazaar,
Explore the ruins of old Pompeii,
Then hit the road to Mandalay.
I’d sing and dance with African tribes,
Inspect the scrolls of ancient scribes,
Reach London town Big Ben to see,
And climb the hills of Galilee.
But now I have to go to school
And take my place at desk and stool;
I’ll visit lands I’d like to see,
In my fav’rite class—geography!
