“March Moods,” Friend, Mar. 1996, 18

March Moods

Sometimes the wind is friendly,

As helpful as can be.

It gently dries my mother’s clothes,

And sails my kite for me.

Sometimes the wind is angry;

It slams the outside doors.

It breaks the treetop branches

While, lionlike, it roars.

Sometimes the wind is playful;

It blows away my hat

And makes me chase it down the street

Before I get it back.

Sometimes the wind is timid;

It tries to hide from me.

And since I cannot see it,

That’s as easy as can be!
