What would it be like to live in peace? To have no one fighting anywhere, no bullies, no one taking your things or bossing you around? To feel really happy about your family and friends, about the things you do, about yourself?
We know of at least two groups of people in the history of the world who did live in peace. The first were the people who lived in the city of Enoch, called Zion. You can read about them in Moses 7:13–21 in the Pearl of Great Price.
The other people who lived in peace were those who lived in the land that the Savior visited on the American continent after His resurrection. They all became members of His church and lived His gospel. No one was rich; no one was poor. They shared everything and were honest with each other and did not quarrel or fight with each other.
So great was their righteousness that the disciples of Jesus Christ did many great things: “They did heal the sick, and raise the dead, and cause the lame to walk, and the blind to receive their sight, and the deaf to hear; and all manner of miracles did they work among the children of men; and in nothing did they work miracles save it were in the name of Jesus” (4 Ne. 1:5).
We may not live where all the people around us are righteous, but we can be happy and have peace in our hearts as we show Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ that we love Them by obeying the commandments and treating other people the way They want us to.
