Who Said It?

For each Old Testament speaker you correctly identify from his/her statement without looking up the scripture, give yourself five points. If you correctly identify the person to whom the speaker was talking, ten points is your score! If you look up the scripture for either answer, you get two points.

  1. “Whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God.” (See Ruth 1:2–4, 8, 16.)

  2. “Choose you this day whom ye will serve; … but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (See Josh. 24:1–2, 15.)

  3. “Our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace.” (See Dan. 3:16–17.)

  4. “Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, … but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts. … This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand.” (See 1 Sam. 17:23, 45–46.)

  5. “Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint. … Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?” (See Gen. 25:30, 32.)

  6. “Let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request: For we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish.” (See Esth. 7:3–5.)

  7. “Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?” (See Ex. 3:11.)

  8. “Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you” (See Jonah 1:3–5, 11–12.)
