Guide to the Friend

Possible Ideas for Family Home Evening

  1. Read “A Gift for Billy” (page 2). Maybe you know people like Billy’s family who are in need of compassion. As a family, plan and carry out an act of service for someone in need.

  2. How much do you know about temples? Take the Temple Facts Challenge (pages 16–17). Learn more by studying either a temple listed in the challenge or the temple closest to you. You can find information at lds.org/temples.

  3. Share some family history. Read about one man’s service during World War II in “Parachutes of Hope” (pages 28–29). Do you have interesting stories in your family history? Talk to a parent or grandparent to learn about a story from your family; then share it with someone else.

  4. Read “Amelia’s Choice” (page 43). Sometimes families are busy. Discuss ways your family members can make time for one another. Maybe you can garden together or fold laundry while you watch a movie, just like Amelia.
