Seminary Registration Instructions

Seminary Registration Instructions for Seminary Personnel, Priesthood Leaders, and Parents of Seminary Students

What You Need to Know

  1. The Seminary Registration Agreement is a legal requirement. Parents are required to consent to it only once during the time their child or children are in seminary.
  2. When parents or guardians sign or agree to the consent, they legally agree to allow Seminaries and Institutes of Religion (S&I) to track their child’s or children’s seminary progress using WISE.
  3. Parents who are not members of the Church will complete registration with the local seminary program after they have secured a Church Account at account.ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
  4. Potential seminary students are youth ages 14–18 who will be in the 9th–12th grade (or equivalent). Exceptions are made for students with disabilities.
  5. Seminary registration invites parents to select or update the following:
    • Graduation year(s) for the child or children participating in seminary
    • Building location or online program where the child or children will be participating in seminary
    • Contact information for the parents
  6. Seminary students can update their personal contact information online at myseminary.ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
  7. When and where possible, we invite all parents and guardians to use myseminary.ChurchofJesusChrist.org or the S&I app to register their child or children for seminary and to then monitor student progress through the program.

Instructions for Seminary Personnel

What You Need to Do

  • Raise awareness of the mySeminary site and the S&I app so that parents can register their child or children and monitor student progress through seminary.
  • Parents who are not members of the Church cannot use mySeminary or the S&I app to complete registration for their child or children. They will be asked to contact the local seminary program, where seminary personnel will use WISE to complete registration for these students.

    1. Add records access for nonmember parents in the “Guardian” tab in WISE.
    2. Be sure to mark the basic agreement under the “Parent Agreement” bar in each student’s ID page in WISE.
    3. Update parent or guardian contact information.

Instructions for Priesthood Leaders

What You Need to Do

Raise awareness of the mySeminary site and the S&I app so that parents can register their child or children and monitor student progress through seminary.

There is not a priesthood view of mySeminary on the S&I app. Leaders should use myseminary.ChurchofJesusChrist.org to monitor their youth’s progress in seminary.

In Northern Hemisphere programs, beginning January 1, mySeminary becomes a registration tool for the next school year. For example, on January 1, 2023, mySeminary will begin to show who is or is not registered for the 2023–24 year. In Southern Hemisphere programs, mySeminary becomes a registration tool on July 1 for the following calendar or school year.

Leaders cannot consent to the Seminary Registration Agreement. This is reserved only for parents or guardians.

Leaders are encouraged to mark the graduation year and building location or online program for each student. Leaders can also mark students who are too young, who are too old, or who will not be participating in seminary for whatever reason the following year.
