Speaking of President Nelson... here’s a cool story. Some youth in Idaho, USA, celebrated his 99th birthday—on the ninth day of the ninth month of the year—by doing 99 baptisms for the dead!
The idea started in a seminary council meeting, then spread through the Nampa West Stake. Student leaders were surprised by how many fellow students wanted to participate. Their family members got involved, too (if only to drive the youth to the temple).
Some people made signs that said “Happy Birthday President Nelson” and “99 for 99” and waited outside the Meridian Idaho Temple to take pictures with the youth as they exited. Afterward, the youth compiled the photos into a digital slide show and sent it to President Nelson.
“It was an awesome and fun way to help get people to the temple,” said Joanne H., a member of the Nampa seminary council.
Mele N., another member of the seminary council, said, “It was amazing to see all the youth gather for one purpose and be unified under one cause: the gathering of Israel. Regardless of our differences, we collectively made a huge impact on the lives of our brothers and sisters to help them come unto Christ.”
