BY ACCESSING, BROWSING OR USING THIS SITE, INCLUDING ANY CONTENT OR RELATED MATERIALS, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ, UNDERSTAND AND AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS OF USE.  IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO ALL OF THESE TERMS OF USE, DO NOT USE THIS SITE.

This website (the “Site”) is owned and operated by Corporation of the Presiding Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing this Site, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these Terms of Use, you may not access this Site. We may modify these Terms of Use at any time, so please check regularly for changes. Your continued use of this Site after we have posted changes means that you accept those changes.

These Terms of Use are provided to encourage participation in a collaborative and open environment. Adherence to these policies will ensure that this Site is a friendly and helpful place for all who use it. If you disregard these policies, we may edit or remove any offending content or material you post and may block your access to this Site.

You agree that you will not, individually or as part of any collective effort, submit or post material to this Site that could be deemed harmful or offensive to other users, nor will you impersonate another user in order to hide your identity or implicate another in such actions. You agree to do nothing that might disrupt the flow of information to and from this Site, adversely affect the service or performance of this Site, or circumvent any of the controls or usage rules that we have implemented. You understand that any harmful or offensive actions by you may result in the revocation of your right to use this Site and legal action against you.

Licenses and Restrictions

Except for certain content or material posted by third parties, all content and material on this Site (including visuals, text, icons, displays, databases, media, and general information), is owned by, or licensed to, us.  Unless otherwise indicated, you may view, download, and print content or material from this Site only for your personal, noncommercial use. You may not post, transmit, or distribute material from this Site on another website or on a computer network without our permission or, in the case of material posted by a third-party, the permission of the owner of that material. See, Permission to Use Copyrighted Materials.

Your Account

Some areas of the Site, or some activities permitted by the Site, including posting comments or making Submissions, may require you to sign up for an account. When and if you sign up for an account, you agree to: (a) provide accurate, current, and complete information about yourself as prompted by our sign-up process (including your e-mail address); and (b) maintain and update your information (including your e-mail address) to keep it accurate, current, and complete.  We reserve the right to discontinue your access to the Site if any information provided by you is untrue, inaccurate, not current, or incomplete.

As part of the account sign-up process, you will be asked to create a user name and a password.  We may refuse to grant you a user name that is already taken or for any other reason in our sole discretion. You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your user name and password and for any and all activities that are conducted using your account.

Please follow these guidelines when setting up your account:

  • Do not select the names of deity, prophets, apostles, general authorities, or other famous current or former members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the “Church”), either now or in ancient times, such that it would appear to desecrate or impersonate a name or person. This also applies to your signature and avatar.
  • Do not select user names that sound like words or phrases that would not be in harmony with the teachings of the Church. This also applies to your signature and avatar.
  • Do not select user names of famous or infamous individuals.
  • Do not use humor at the expense of others.
  • Do not select user names that indicate political preferences.
  • Do not select user names that refer to or promote a website or business.
  • Do not use links, in any form, in your signature.

We may modify your user name, profile, avatar, or signature in order to bring it into compliance with our policies.

Express or imply that any statements you make are endorsed by us, without our prior written consent.

Engage in spamming or flooding.

Transmit, post, post links to, or upload any software or other materials that contain any viruses, worms, Trojan horses, defects, date bombs, time bombs, or other items of a destructive nature.

Encouraged Behavior

We encourage the following behavior in discussion forums on this Site:

  • Follow the Golden Rule—Everyone enjoys being treated with respect.
  • When in doubt, don't post it. Take a deep breath, check your facts, etc. It's better to wait if you are unsure of something or too frustrated to think clearly.
  • Stay on topic; help keep the content of the Site clear and concise.
  • Use the correct forum for the material you are posting. Please do not post the same material in multiple discussion threads.
  • Start a new discussion thread rather than introducing a new topic in an existing thread.
  • Post insightful content related to the topics you are discussing.
  • Post solution-oriented responses. If you find a problem, take the next step and suggest a solution when you document the problem.
  • Post open, honest and respectful debate related to issues or projects you are collaborating on.
  • Post factual information, with helpful references or citations where possible.

Posting Material

You may be permitted to post content on this Site, including files and/or comments in one or more online discussion forums. By posting any material or content, you represent and warrant that you have the right to do so, either because you own that content, or because the license terms under which you use that content permit it to be publicly distributed without charge.  You further represent and warrant that your posting of such content does not constitute a violation of any obligation of confidentiality, trade secret, right of publicity, right of privacy, intellectual property right, or other right. You agree to disclose as requested the applicable license or other basis for your belief that material or content you post can legally be posted and publicly distributed via this Site.

You may not post content or materials containing any of the following:

  • Religious discussions or debate.
  • Political discussions or debate.
  • Legal discussions or debate.

  • Links to websites that are off-topic or that relate to any of the items in this list.
  • Avatars, images, or signatures that include any of the items in this list.
  • Commercial messages, promotions, or similar solicitations (anything that would be considered spam if received through email).

  • Methods for circumventing Church policies or security mechanisms.

  • Actual membership, financial, statistical, or other data from Church records. The use of fictitious data is generally allowed.

By sending or transmitting to us software code, code samples, technical materials, articles, white papers, FAQs, e-mails, discussion thread postings, Web logs (“blogs”), wikis, creative suggestions, ideas, notes, concepts, information, or other materials (collectively, “Submissions”), or by posting such Submissions to any area of the Site, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, sublicenseable (through multiple tiers), assignable, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable right to use, reproduce, distribute (through multiple tiers), create derivative works of, publicly perform, publicly display, digitally perform, make, have made, sell, offer for sale, and import such Submissions in any media now known or hereafter developed, for any purpose whatsoever, commercial or otherwise, without compensation to the provider of the Submissions. You represent and warrant that none of the Submissions will be subject to any obligation, whether of confidentiality, attribution, or otherwise, on our part and we will not be liable for any use or disclosure of any Submissions. We may, but are not required to, monitor content or Submissions posted by users of the Site. We reserve the right to remove any content or Submissions, including content posted by you or any other user, for any reason or no reason, and without notice.

Submissions may be subject to U.S. export controls or the trade laws of other countries. You agree to comply with all such laws and obtain such licenses as may be required. You expressly agree not to include any encryption technology in any Submission.

You acknowledge that we may establish general practices and limits concerning use and storage of content on the Site and that we may change these general practices and limits at any time, in our sole discretion and without notice. We have no responsibility or liability for the deletion, failure to store, or the backup of any content or Submissions.

Retrieving User-Posted Content

This Site includes online discussion forums to which many users may contribute. You acknowledge that information available in such forums may include content that is inaccurate, misleading, deceptive, or that contains harmful software code, or links to websites containing the foregoing. We neither endorse nor are responsible for any content posted by a third-party, including any opinion, advice, information, or other utterance made or displayed on the Site or in forums. The opinions expressed in the forums reflect solely the opinions of the participants and may not reflect the opinions of the Church or its leaders.

We have no obligation to monitor content submitted by third parties, including Submissions. Nevertheless, we may monitor such content, and we may, in our sole discretion, alter or remove any content (including, without limitation, any posting to a forum); we may also disclose such content and the circumstances surrounding their transmission to any third party in order to operate the Site properly, to protect ourselves or others, or to comply with legal obligations or governmental requests.

Any software provided via this Site may include additional terms and conditions. You agree to be bound by any other licenses, terms, proprietary right notices, and copyright notices found on this Site or accompanying Submissions, which apply to those Submissions or any other content or materials that you use and/or download from this Site. You must retain intact all copyright and other proprietary notices on content or Submissions that you are permitted to download from the Site. In the event of any conflict between these Terms of Use and the terms of a license applicable to specific content or Submissions, the terms of use applicable to the specific content or Submissions shall prevail.

For your convenience, this Site may contain links to websites operated by others. These sites are not maintained or controlled by us, and we are not responsible for their content. Although we have made a good faith effort to link only to tasteful, appropriate sites, some may contain inappropriate or objectionable material. If you find such material while using the Site, please notify us immediately.

Therefore, we believe that linking to other websites is legally permissible and consistent with the expectations of those who use the Internet.
