On the cover: When the pioneer Saints came to Utah, they brought with them the European tradition of using stained glass windows as a decorative feature of their church buildings. In the early days before local talent in this art form could be developed, some stained glass work was ordered from craftsmen in New York City. Later, local artisans were able to fullfill commissions for stained glass to ornament temples and meetinghouses. Our cover shows two examples from the building that houses three wards, Millcreek First, Third, and Twelfth Wards in Salt Lake City. The stained glass window on the front cover depicts the Savior as the Good Shepherd. (Photographs by Marilyn Erd.)
