Purpose of Recreational Properties

Under priesthood leadership, Church recreation camps provide a dedicated outdoor setting for Church activities. The primary purpose of these camps is to help young women feel the Spirit and enjoy safe, wholesome recreation. Stakes, wards, families, and others may also use these camps for approved activities.

What Is Young Women Camp?

Camp is an outdoor experience for young women ages 12 to 18. It gives young women opportunities to:

  • Feel the influence of the Spirit.
  • Serve others.
  • Build friendships and unity.
  • Learn skills.
  • Appreciate God’s creations.
  • Have fun!

Why Do We Have Camp?

Camp is an opportunity for young women to practice patterns of gospel living away from worldly influences and the challenges they may face in their daily lives.

Everything we do at camp should help young women come unto Christ by:

  • Confirming their identity as daughters of God.
  • Recognizing and cultivating the Spirit.
  • Keeping baptismal covenants.
  • Preparing for their future roles.

At Young Women camp, young women ages 12 to 18 have the world of nature as their classroom. They can experience the wonder of God’s creations and learn skills that will help them become more self-reliant and able to live comfortably in the outdoors. Camp also provides time for young women and their leaders to develop lasting friendships as they work and play together. Through shared experiences, they can draw closer to their Heavenly Father and strengthen each other in living the gospel.
