Dear Prospective Missionaries and Parents,
Serving the Lord as a representative of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a sacred privilege. The Argentina Missionary Training Center (MTC) has been established to help missionaries prepare to teach and testify with power and authority, to sense and follow the promptings of the Spirit, and to experience the joy of missionary work associated with that privilege.
The Argentina MTC is located on the beautiful campus of the Buenos Aires Temple. Up to 90 missionaries at a time are engaged in a daily agenda of scripture study, companionship training, teaching experiences, and classroom learning.
It is one of eight international MTCs that provide both regular missionary training and language training. Local missionaries (those who speak Spanish) undergo a two-week training experience that prepares them for missionary work. English-speaking missionaries who are called to some of the South American countries come to the Argentina MTC to learn to speak Spanish and to prepare to serve. For a six-week period they are engaged in a language learning program that immerses them in an actual Spanish-speaking environment. They share rooms, eat meals, attend devotionals and workshops, and engage in classroom experiences with the Latin American missionaries who are at the MTC. While at the MTC, all missionaries enjoy the blessing of attending the Buenos Aires Temple.
Sister Openshaw and I welcome you to the Buenos Aires MTC. We know that your time with us will be a wonderfully fulfilling and uplifting experience. There is nothing greater than enjoying the privilege of serving the Lord as a missionary. We look forward to seeing you.
President and Sister Openshaw
