Dear Prospective Missionaries and Parents,
Young men and women who are called by the Lord as full-time missionaries begin their service at one of the Church’s 15 missionary training centers (MTCs) worldwide. The Peru MTC is the third largest MTC, and the staff, teachers, and leaders unitedly strive to serve the individual needs of each missionary who receives training here.
Depending on language requirements, the length of stay for missionaries at the Peru MTC varies from three to six weeks. As much as possible, a native English-speaking missionary will have a native Spanish-speaking missionary companion to help with his Spanish-speaking ability and to help the native Spanish speaker to be able to give a simple prayer or testimony in English. Your training is focused on the scriptures and Preach My Gospel, and you will develop increased understanding and love for the scriptures and doctrine of Christ. Through obedience, personal prayer, and study of the scriptures, your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ will be strengthened and your testimony of His restored gospel enhanced. You will become skilled in teaching the missionary lessons by the Spirit, and thus you will become a mentor and righteous example for other missionaries.
Approximately 120 missionaries usually reside at the Peru MTC. Class work and meetings dominate the daily schedule. But there will be opportunities for in-field proselyting and activation experiences, participation in weekly service projects, preparation day activities, firesides, and devotionals. You will enjoy eating in our cafeteria and participating in daily physical activity in our outdoor sports areas.
Your experiences in the Peru MTC will truly be unique, fulfilling, and spiritually edifying. Learning to teach the gospel is challenging and will stretch your capacity and capability, but the spiritual blessings that accompany this work bring great personal growth and happiness.
Sister Cardon and I welcome you to the Peru MTC. We know you are about to embark on an unparalleled experience. As you faithfully prepare and serve, our Heavenly Father will bless you and your family.
President and Sister Cardon
