When you think of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, how do you feel? Do you look forward to it, or are you afraid? Isaiah 33 records Isaiah’s words that some should fear the Second Coming because of their wickedness and because they are unprepared to be with the Lord. Isaiah also spoke of those who would dwell with the Lord and described what they would be like. Those who want to live with the Lord would do well to highlight these qualities and strive to develop them.Up to this point, Isaiah 34 seems to be the harshest of all the chapters that speak of destruction. Chapter 34 describes the judgments upon the wicked that would surely take place, both in the time of Isaiah and just before the Second Coming. We should remember, however, that this awful judgment only comes upon those who have been warned and who have chosen to be wicked anyway. The Lord does not desire any of His children to experience these kinds of punishments (see 2 Nephi 26:23–28), but the consequences of a just law broken must be fulfilled (see D&C 63:33–34).34189_000_298
