Doctrine and Covenants 126:1—“It Is No More Required”
While the Lord did not require Brigham Young to leave his family to serve additional missions, he did fulfill some short missions. When the apostate John C. Bennett was spreading lies about the Church, President Young, then President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, traveled to meet with people and correct the lies. He also traveled to collect funds for the Nauvoo Temple and to promote the Prophet Joseph Smith’s candidacy for president of the United States.
