The Church currently builds many buildings throughout the world, such as ward and stake meetinghouses, temples, and seminary and institute buildings. When the revelation given inDoctrine and Covenants 94
was given, however, the Saints had not built any buildings. The Lord had commanded the construction of a building—the Kirtland Temple, but the members had not yet begun building it. In this revelation, the Lord commanded the Church to build two more buildings. As you study this revelation, think about what the Lord’s command to build those two buildings and the temple teaches about what is necessary as a foundation to God’s work.

Apply the Principle
All Church buildings are dedicated with a prayer given by a priesthood leader assigned by those in authority. ReadDoctrine and Covenants 94:8–9, 12to learn what the Lord expected of dedicated buildings. Explain how this applies to our Church buildings today.
