[MUSIC PLAYING AND CHOIR SINGING]
While the curtains have closed for the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square concerts in the Philippines,
the excitement afterwards, especially by the young generation, was like celebrating with the players in a post-game win following
a sporting event. After all was sang and done,
the choir’s nine-day, four-concert stop in the Philippines was a huge success.
This is a worldwide tour,
and a primary objective of ours is to carry a message of hope in Jesus Christ.
When Jesus opened His eyes, He smiled gently.
And then He stands with a power we’ve never seen before.
He speaks to the winds, the rain, the lightning, and then the waves, saying, Peace, be still.
This is a country that's 97% Christian and they're willing to talk about it.
A spark of the choir’s world tour,
this visit to the Philippines is the first in its 177-year history.
We had a very wide conversation with essentially the whole country. The leaders of the Church in Philippines met with the president. They were honored by the Philippine senate.
The first choir outside of Asia ever. So we’ve been embraced.
The choir tapped into the heart and soul of the rising generation.
Singing with the Tabernacle Choir has always been a dream of mine. I just imagined Heavenly Father talking to me as I'm practicing the song.
We recognize everywhere we go that the youth of the Church are the future of the Church.
The concert has done a wonderful job of breaching a generational gap. Because Jesus Christ lives.
He is with us and He loves you.
While music speaks to the heart and soul, the choir also sang in their native tongue, Tagalog.
How many years did they practice that? Because the diction, the diction was on point. It was like, it was like it was a Filipino choir behind us.
I think it really did touch, you know, the hearts of the audience. And they I think we all felt, yes.
The choir represents its sponsoring organization, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, like no other group.
We're a people that love music,
and the music that the Tabernacle Choir gave out today was just absolutely fantastic. Tabernacle choir is one way to express that kind of
a hope and certainly ambassadors of goodwill for the Church.
We were going to ask the crowd what they thought of the concert, but there really was no need.
Get ready to celebrate, Florida and Georgia.
The choir is coming in September.
