Buried in time and silt
Uncovered with a brush
Marked for future reference
And discussed by reptilian teachers
Who do finger push-ups
Meandering in time and silt
Musing at the markers
And the brushes and the teachers
Remembering white flowers
Picked in April

After the Rain

Azure washes to gray slate-blue
when the last of the rain
is soft in the sky.
Side by side two rainbows
build a hall of mirrors.
Light raises the mist
and the water-drop tones
of eternity sing
in the arch of the bow.
