The Beach in Winter

With light wispy mists of clouds,

The deep blue of late night skies,

And patches of snow on low rolling hills,

I made myself an ocean.

And I stood and watched it roll.

I felt the spray from breaking waves

Splash wet across my face.

And I squirmed at the slimy seaweed

Stuck between my toes

On the smooth sands of my beach.

Salt water stained the tip of my tongue

And the sunlight was kissing my cheeks,

When a car

Drove through my ocean

And wreaked havoc on my beach.
