What’s in It for You

Mutual Activity Ideas

  • Look for ways to serve those in need, but as King Benjamin advised, “See that all these things are done in wisdom and order” (Mosiah 4:27). Call local shelters or service organizations and see if there is a specific need your Mutual can help fill. For example, one ward found out there was a need for towels at a shelter, so they called local hotels that were willing to donate excess towels.

Seminary Devotional Idea

  • Take two oranges, one peeled and the other unpeeled. Drop them into a clear pitcher of water. The peeled orange will sink while the unpeeled one will float. Talk about how the peel, which can be compared to keeping high standards or values, will serve as a protection and a shield.

Family Home Evening Idea

  • Before beginning the lesson portion of your family home evening, organize your family by assigning each person a room or area to straighten or clean. Set a timer or mark the time on a clock. At the start signal, each person works as hard and as fast as he or she can. At the end of the time, perhaps 10 minutes, stop and admire how much was accomplished by working together as a family on a goal that benefits everyone.
