President Dieter F. Uchtdorf teaches us to do everything in our power to hold a current temple recommend so we can extend the blessings of the gospel to others. He said: “The temple recommend is a symbol of our faithfulness and determination to serve the Lord. It is a symbol of our love for the Lord, for as Jesus taught, ‘He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him’ (John 14:21).”
