Amalia Rivas joyfully joined the Church in Peru 1990. Despite going through the difficult experience of losing her leg, she said she gained something of greater value. “I learned to love my Savior,” she said.

Now Sister Rivas works in the Lima Peru Temple every Friday. “For every sacrifice comes great blessings,” she said. “I just feel so much joy to be able to serve in His holy temple. … I go to the temple because I know that when we are faithful to the Lord, He will be faithful in blessing us.”

The members in Peru love the temple, said Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, who visited Peru in August of 2013. “I think with the challenges they’ve had, they recognize that’s what’s really important is to have the gospel and the blessings of the temple.”
