Elder Andersen in Bolivia
Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles taught members, leaders, and missionaries during a series of meetings in Bolivia in August. The choices in life are not between prosperity and poverty, or between fame and anonymity, but between good and evil, he said. “We are here to learn about faith and obedience—to prove ourselves worthy to receive eternal life. We are here to learn how to live with faith.”

Although countries and cultures differ, he said, every person in the world is faced with choosing between good and evil. “The difficulties in making decisions regarding mortality are exactly the same for you as they are for me,” Elder Andersen told nearly 2,500 members attending a regional conference in Cochabamba, Bolivia.
Elder Andersen taught from the scriptures and shared personal experiences to show that it is possible to be a disciple of the Savior and emerge victorious from the trials and challenges that life presents. “Life goes on, and all we must do is endure faithfully to the end,” Elder Andersen said. He said that the Savior will not ask what position we had in the Church, but rather how faithfully we fulfilled whatever we were asked to do. He also spoke of the importance of living the law of tithing.
At the Cochabamba Bolivia Jaihuayco Stake conference, with 1,500 Saints in attendance, Elder Andersen shared his testimony that life continues after death and that all will be resurrected and live again. “I know this with perfect certainty,” he said.

Elder Andersen also met with full-time missionaries serving in the Cusco Peru Mission. He encouraged them to increase in faith and gain their own knowledge and understanding of the Atonement. He promised that doing so would strengthen their desire to share the gospel. He also said that through scripture study, listening to the prophets, and living the gospel, they would be able to provide better service to each other.
