The Sacrament Helps Us Draw Closer to Jesus Christ

Why did the Savior institute the sacrament? How can partaking of the sacrament help us draw closer to our Savior? Elder Dallin H. Oaks of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles describes the Savior’s introduction of the sacrament to His Apostles and testifies that participating in the sacrament is the most important act in which Latter-day Saints participate on the Sabbath. Partaking of the sacrament helps us to remember the Savior’s sacrifice for us, renew our covenants with Him, and be cleansed from our sins. Elder Oaks testifies that the Savior lives and that He “has provided the way for us to return to our heavenly home.”

Special Witnesses of Christ

As we celebrate the Easter season, the testimonies of prophets and apostles called as special witnesses of the Savior, always relevant, become particularly poignant. In this series, those testimonies are presented, beginning with the First Presidency and continuing through the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Powerful individually, when presented as a group these testimonies provide an undeniable witness that the Savior lives.
