Merciful, Mercy

The spirit of compassion, tenderness, and forgiveness. Mercy is one of the attributes of God. Jesus Christ offers mercy to us through his atoning sacrifice.

  • The Lord is merciful and gracious:Ex. 34:6; ( Deut. 4:31; )
  • His mercy endureth for ever:1 Chr. 16:34;
  • Goodness and mercy shall follow me:Ps. 23:6;
  • He that has mercy on the poor is happy:Prov. 14:21;
  • I desired mercy and not sacrifice:Hosea 6:6;
  • Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy:Matt. 5:7; ( 3 Ne. 12:7; )
  • Woe unto hypocrites who pay tithes and omit the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith:Matt. 23:23;
  • Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful:Luke 6:36;
  • Not by our works of righteousness, but according to his mercy he saved us:Titus 3:5;
  • The tender mercies of the Lord are over all:1 Ne. 1:20;
