Priesthood

The authority and power that God gives to man to act in all things for the salvation of man (D&C 50:26–27). Male members of the Church who hold the priesthood are organized into quorums and are authorized to perform ordinances and certain administrative functions in the Church.

  • Their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood:Ex. 40:15; ( Num. 25:13; )
  • I have ordained you:John 15:16;
  • Ye are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood:1 Pet. 2:5;
  • Ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood:1 Pet. 2:9; ( Ex. 19:6; )
  • Men are called as high priests because of their exceeding faith and good works:Alma 13:1–12;
  • I give unto you power to baptize:3 Ne. 11:21;
  • Ye shall have power to give the Holy Ghost:Moro. 2:2;
