If we have a lot of faith, everything will work out in our favor, right? Not exactly. God doesn’t just make our wishes come true. He is our Father in Heaven, and He wants us to learn and grow. Like the Thurstons, we need to do our part when we ask God for help with our finances. This means that we should work on learning new skills while being receptive to His influence. Here are two important ways we can receive help from God.

Pay attention to the details, and be realistic. When you have done the best you can, present your plan to God in prayer. Be open with your thoughts and feelings. Tell Him this is the best you can do, and ask for confirmation that your plan is right. If a feeling of peace comes to you after your prayer, you are on the right track. If you feel troubled or confused after your prayer, then perhaps it’s time to look a little more closely at your plan and make some changes.

When it comes to managing our money, sometimes we feel like we don’t know where to start. Or maybe it seems like everything we have tried has failed. Part of the problem might be that we have tried to go it alone. We need to be humble and ask God to lead us, to open doors for us. And we need to spend some time seeking peace. If we are obedient to the commandments, the Lord is bound to bless us. We just have to ask. The work is up to us, but we will be guided so that we will be more productive.

It can be hard to plan for everything that might happen in the future. And it can be tough to sacrifice the things we want so that we can have the things we need. Just remember that God knows what’s best for us. He knows how to help us make financial decisions that will lift our burdens. When we learn to trust Him, we also learn to become more confident in our own abilities.
