2017-18 Seminary and Institute Priorities Resources

A calendar view of the resources available for area, program, and individual implementation of the 2017-18 S&I Priorities.

In order to support the training received at Area Director Convention in April 2017, online resources will be delivered to all employees and called teachers in the Live, Teach, Administer email. These messages and training are intended to help:

  • In-service leaders be aware of additional resources to help them and their teachers deepen their understanding of each priority in in-service meetings and other settings.
  • Teachers be reminded of simple ways they can implement the priorities into their classrooms. 

June 2017:

Invite All:

Creating and implementing a plan and following a process for success in your program.

See the One:

An introduction to the See the One priority.

Doctrinal Mastery:

A review of the first year and a refocus on Acquiring Spiritual Knowledge

 

July 2017:

Elevate Learning:

Why Elevate Learning helps teachers and students to accomplish The S&I Objective: Seeing the graduation/credit requirements as a means to a greater end.

 

August 2017:

See the One:

Understanding the importance of seeing the one and developing the skill of planning and creating routines to help our students have a better learning experience.

Elevate Learning:

Highlight Ensign/Liahona/New Era articles on seminary and institute. Resources to set goals for the upcoming year.

 

September 2017:

Elevate Learning:

75 truths article (assessment related) in New Era

In-class and social media campaign to highlight why personal reading is making a difference.

 

October 2017:

Invite All:

Identifying and addressing invite all opportunities and challenges at particular times of the year in your program such as: transitioning between semesters, students who have stopped attending or did not complete, and inviting those not currently enrolled.

Doctrinal Mastery:

Highlighting efforts of a teacher and student to act in faith as they acquire spiritual knowledge

 

November 2017:

See the One:

Developing the skill to understand the hidden rules that all students have and how that effects their individual learning.

 

January 2018:

Doctrinal Mastery:

Highlighting a teacher and student’s effort to examine concepts and questions with an eternal perspective as he or she acquires spiritual knowledge.

Elevate Learning:

Ongoing emphases on the importance of reading the word of God as found in the scriptures and the words of church leaders with an invitation to share. Assessment of goals and progress with graduation/credit requirements.

 

February 2018:

See the One:

Teaching the importance and developing the skill to empathetically listen to our students individually.

Invite All:

Evaluating the current effectiveness of your plan and adjusting as necessary. Continuing to analyze, identify, and address opportunities to invite students to enroll, regularly attend, and complete.

Elevate Learning:

Ongoing emphases on the importance of reading the word of God as found in the scriptures and the words of church leaders with an invitation to share. Assessment of goals and progress with graduation/credit requirements.

 

March 2018:

Doctrinal Mastery:

Highlighting a teacher and student’s effort to use divinely appointed sources as he or she acquires spiritual knowledge.

 

April 2018:

Elevate Learning:

Ongoing emphases on the importance of reading the word of God as found in the scriptures and the words of church leaders with an invitation to share. Assessment of goals and progress with graduation/credit requirements.
