Invitation to Follow Up with Priesthood Leaders in Your Area

What is the value of a heartfelt conversation between a Seminaries and Institutes of Religion employee and local priesthood leaders?

In an effort to streamline communication with Church leaders throughout the world and to better connect Seminaries and Institutes of Religion (S&I) personnel with the efforts of local leaders, in mid- to late-September 2016 Church headquarters will be sending three specific emails: one each to members of stake presidencies, members of bishoprics, and young single adult (YSA) representatives.

Each will receive a link to this media. Watch how a counselor in a stake presidency, a bishop, a YSA representative, and an S&I representative worked together and saw a miracle in the lives of their YSAs.

Members of stake presidencies will also receive a link to the story of President Hamon and how he worked with Brother Warwick (an S&I coordinator). They will be asked to consider these questions:

  • What feelings do you have that are similar to President Hamon’s?

  • How might the S&I program be a valuable resource in your area?

Members of bishoprics will receive a link to the story of Bishop Higgins and how he was instrumental in blessing these young adults. They will be asked to consider these questions:

  • What steps did Bishop Higgins take to increase the impact of institute for the young adults in his ward?

  • What principles of effective invitations and working together do you see?

  • How might this example lead to more students being blessed by participating in seminary or institute?

YSA representatives will receive a link to the story of Josh, a YSA representative who cared about his peers and helped bring them back to church. They will be asked to consider these questions:

  • How might the effective use of a YSA representative bless the YSAs in your area?

  • How might the relationship between YSA activities and an institute class strengthen the YSAs in your area?

Invitation to S&I Leadership:

Seminary and institute personnel should be prepared to reach out to priesthood leaders after the email is sent and assist them as they teach about and invite YSAs to enroll in institute.

  • Be prepared to engage in conversations with applicable local leaders who view this media, sharing with them your desire to assist in this great effort.

  • Work with local priesthood leaders by sharing ideas on how to use this media for stake or ward council meetings or other training opportunities.
