Seminary students around the world have been studying the Book of Mormon. To support students in their efforts to read, understand, and apply the principles from the Book of Mormon, Seminaries and Institutes of Religion has reached out to students with the “Book of Mormon and Me” campaign. As you encourage your students to participate in this campaign, we hope that you will be able to see the Spirit witness to them the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon.
This campaign’s goal is to assist teachers as they encourage students to study and apply the teachings in the Book of Mormon to their lives. We want our students to understand the doctrine well enough to answer questions for themselves and help others with their questions as well. Additionally, we want students to remain engaged and excited about the Book of Mormon throughout the school year.
To assist teachers and students, the “Book of Mormon and Me” campaign focuses on student sharing through social media. As a seminary teacher, encourage your students to share their experiences with reading and studying the Book of Mormon. For example, you could ask your students the following questions:
What is your favorite story from the Book of Mormon, and why?
Who is your favorite prophet in the Book of Mormon?
Has a particular story in the Book of Mormon helped you through a difficult time?
Which chapter or verse speaks to you personally?
Students can share their personal stories about the Book of Mormon on their local seminary Facebook pages or on the LDS Seminary Facebook page. Students can also email their stories to email@example.com or post their experiences on social media using the hashtag #BookofMormonandMe.
The “Book of Mormon and Me” campaign runs from August 2017 to May 2018. Below are videos of students just like yours sharing their stories. We encourage you to use these videos in your classroom as they support the scriptures and lessons you are teaching.
As you and your students participate in this effort, you will be blessed as you internalize and apply the teachings of the Book of Mormon.
