New Seminary Learning Assessment Manual and Software
Seminary teachers and administrators can prepare to help students successfully complete learning assessments by viewing the new Seminary Learning Assessments manual, available online or in the Gospel Library app. This manual contains:
- A brief learning assessment overview, including links to training handouts and demonstrations that explain how to administer the learning assessments.
- A section on making accommodations for students with disabilities.
- Study guides that can help students and teachers identify some of the course’s major doctrines and principles (for example, see the New Testament: Acts–Revelation Learning Assessment Study Guide). Teachers may consider helping students access these study guides through the Gospel Library app (click Seminaries and Institutes, then Seminary, then Seminary Learning Assessments).
In addition to the manual, new learning assessment software is available to help teachers administer each learning assessment. This software also enables teachers to view a class report of the most commonly missed questions and will automatically update students’ records in WISE.
When using the learning assessment software, teachers can allow students to either take the assessment online or on paper by printing a bubble sheet with a unique code for each student. Teachers can scan the bubble sheets, and they will automatically be scored. See the training handouts and demonstrations in the learning assessment overview for detailed instructions.
Teachers can also continue to use the generic bubble sheet, as in previous years, and manually enter scores into WISE. To download and print these forms, go to the Seminary Learning Assessments page, and click on the desired assessment. Please keep in mind that teachers cannot receive a class report or have scores automatically sent to WISE if using the generic bubble sheet.
