You Just Have to Ask
As you teach James 1:5–6 this month, take time to review the 2017 mutual theme: Ask. Remind students that they can receive answers to their heartfelt questions through prayer. As you discuss this idea with your students, testify that God generously gives wisdom to those who ask of Him in faith.
Prophets and apostles have taught repeatedly that God answers the prayers of His children. Consider studying and sharing the following general conference talks with your students as you encourage them to test this principle and pray to their Heavenly Father in faith. Testify that they will receive answers as they humbly seek His guidance and direction.

Invite Students to Share
Encourage your students to share experiences they have had receiving answers to prayers. Remind them that while some experiences might be too sacred to share, they can still testify that God answers their prayers in personal ways. Then invite them to use social media to continue their conversation about receiving answers through prayer. Shareable images can be found on the Seminary Facebook page and are included below.
In your discussions with your students, encourage them to identify specific times God has answered their prayers. As you and your students share thoughts on social media, consider answering the following questions:
- When has God answered my prayer?
- What have I learned as I pray to Heavenly Father in faith?
