Giant “Plates”
The basic structure has been completed for the Church pavilion at Expo ’74 in Spokane, Washington. Designed to resemble the plates from which the Prophet Joseph translated the Book of Mormon, the building will house the exhibit, “Ancient America Speaks.” Motion pictures, dioramas, and other exhibits will tell the story of Ancient America as recorded in the Book of Mormon. The building rests on piers rising out of the Spokane River. Other pavilions at Expo ’74, the only world’s fair being held this year, include those representing various industries, states, and nations.
