Bishop Victor L. Brown Named Scout Executive

Bishop Victor L. Brown, Presiding Bishop of the Church, recently was elected to the executive board of the national council of Boy Scouts of America at the BSA’s annual meeting in Hawaii.

Bishop Brown joins Elder Thomas S. Monson of the Council of the Twelve who already serves on the executive board, the governing body of the BSA.

Named to the advisory council of the national organization were Bishop Vaughn J. Featherstone, second counselor in the Presiding Bishopric, and Sister LaVerne Parmley, Primary general president.

President Ezra Taft Benson of the Council of the Twelve is already a member of the advisory council, and Elder Marion D. Hanks, Assistant to the Council of the Twelve, is on the National Exploring Committee.

Also at the annual meeting, the Silver Antelope was awarded to Alva D. Greene, president of Area II of the Western Region, Boy Scouts of America. In addition to his Scouting activities, Brother Greene, a member of the Holladay 16th Ward, Salt Lake Mount Olympus Stake, has fulfilled many assignments in the Church, including that of president of the former Northeast British Mission from 1962 to 1965.

The Silver Antelope is awarded those who have served well the causes of Scouting. The region of which Brother Greene is president includes Utah and Idaho, and parts of Washington and Wyoming.
