Saturday Morning, 6 October 1979, Welfare Session

Director, Jerold Ottley; organist, Roy Darley. The congregation sang three hymns: “Redeemer of Israel” (Hymns, no. 195), “When Upon Life’s Billows” (Hymns, no. 202), and “How Firm a Foundation” (Hymns, no. 66).

Saturday Morning, 6 October 1979, First General Session

The Salt Lake Mormon Tabernacle Choir, under the direction of Jerold Ottley, with organist John Longhurst, sang: “Lo, the Mighty God Appearing” (Hymns, no. 264), “I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes” by Sowerby (Boston Music), “And the Glory of the Lord” by Handel (C. Fischer), “An Angel from on High” (Hymns, no. 224), “High on the Mountain Top” in which the congregation joined (Hymns, no. 62), “Now We Sing Thy Praise” by Tschesnokoff and Cain (Belwin), “Psalm 148” by Holst (Galaxy Music), and “Guide Us, O Thou Great Jehovah” (Hymns, no. 56).

Saturday Afternoon, 6 October 1979, Second General Session

A Primary children’s choir, directed by Carolyn O. Welling, with organist Roy M. Darley, sang: “Quiet Song” (Sing with Me, p. B-27), “I Know My Father Lives” (Sing with Me, p. B-39), “The Still Small Voice” (Sing with Me, p. B-92), for prelude music they also sang “God’s Love” (Sing with Me, p. B-1), “Faith” (More Songs for Children, p. 2), “Beautiful Savior” (Sing with Me, p. B-6), “Come, Ye Children of the Lord” in which the congregation joined (Hymns, no. 23), “The Lord Gave Me a Temple” (Sing with Me, p. B-48), “My Body Is a Temple” (More Songs for Children, p. 11), and “I Am a Child of God” (Sing with Me, p. B-76).

Saturday Evening, 6 October 1979, General Priesthood Meeting

A combined choir of men from the Tabernacle Choir and the Mormon Youth Choir, under the direction of Jerold Ottley and Robert Bowden, with organist Roy M. Darley, sang: “The Priesthood Gift” by Cundick and Engar (manuscript), “Come O Thou King of Kings” arr. by Bradshaw (Sonos), “Do What is Right” in which the congregation joined (Hymns, no. 314), and “Abide Ye in the Liberty” by Manookin (manuscript).

Sunday Morning, 7 October 1979, Third General Session

The Tabernacle Choir, under the direction of Jerold Ottley, with organist Robert Cundick, sang: “For the Strength of the Hills” (Hymns, no. 241), “At Thy Feet” by Bach (B. F. Wood Music), “Come, Let Us Anew” (Hymns, no. 17), “Sweet Is the Peace” (Hymns, no. 191), “Eternal Life” by Bock and St. Francis, arr. by Dungan (John Church), “Lift Up Your Heads” by Handel (C. Fischer), “Israel, Israel, God Is Calling” in which the congregation joined (Hymns, no. 81), “O Savior Hear Me” by Gluck and Protheroe (Gamble Music), “Break Forth into Joy” by Barnby (Chapel Anthems) and “Thy Spirit, Lord, Has Stirred Our Souls” (Hymns, no. 204).

Sunday Afternoon, 7 October 1979, Fourth General Session

The Tabernacle Choir, under the direction of Donald Ripplinger, with organist John Longhurst, sang: “Though in the Outward Church Below” (Hymns, no. 102), “O Lord Most Holy” by Bruckner and Dickson (H. W. Gray), “Hope of Israel” in which the congregation joined (Hymns, no. 64), “Love at Home” arr. by Manookin (Sonos), “Cast Thy Burden upon the Lord” (Hymns, no. 235), “Praise to the Man” (Hymns, no. 147), “The Spirit of God” (Hymns, no. 213), “For I Am Called by Thy Name” by Gates (Sonos), and “Choristers of Light” by Davis (Galaxy Music).
