Inside front cover: “And Their Eyes Were towards the Sound Thereof,” by Harold I. Hopkinson, oil, 24″ x 48″, 1989. Great destruction occurred upon the American continent at the time of the Savior’s crucifixion. “And it came to pass that while [survivors] were thus conversing [near the temple in the land Bountiful] … they heard a voice as if it came out of heaven.” They heard the voice three times before they “did open their ears to hear it; and their eyes were towards the sound thereof.” They then heard the voice say, “Behold my Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, in whom I have glorified my name—hear ye him.” (3 Ne. 11:3, 5, 7.)

The Huntsville, Utah, white house on the left, surrounded by lilacs, is the boyhood home of President David O. McKay, who was born 8 September 1873. He was ordained to the Quorum of the Twelve 9 April 1906, and as President of the Church 9 April 1951. He died 18 January 1970, at age ninety-six.
