Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem

Jesus’s arrival in Jerusalem at the time of Passover was an occasion for His followers to celebrate. We too have reason to rejoice in our Savior.

  • “Reflections on the Savior’s Last Week.” Eric D. Huntsman, then an associate professor of ancient scripture at Brigham Young University, discusses not only the triumphal entry into Jerusalem but also the other events leading up to the Savior’s Crucifixion and Resurrection. (From the Ensign.)

Activities

  • “Palm Sunday.” In this Friend article, Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf, then Second Counselor in the First Presidency, shares his feelings about Jesus Christ. An accompanying activity invites families to write on paper hearts what they love about the Savior.

  • “Palms for the Lord,” by Dorothy D. Warner (from the Friend). Discover with your children why the people used palm branches as they welcomed the Savior to Jerusalem. (There was more to it than you may think!)

What Think Ye of Christ?

Jesus’s question to the Pharisees has resounded through the ages: “What think ye of Christ?” What do we think of the Savior?

Articles

  • “What Think Ye of Christ?” In this New Era article, Elder Robert D. Hales (1932–2017) of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles answers the question by highlighting the Savior’s key roles and accomplishments..

  • “Teachings of Jesus.” In this general conference address, President Dallin H. Oaks, then a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, asks us “what [we] really believe about Jesus Christ and what [we] are doing because of that belief.”

  • “What Doest Ye for Christ?” In this general conference address, Elder Sam K. Shimabukuro, former member of the Seventy, proposes an important follow-up question to “What think ye of Christ?”

Activity

  • “Following Jesus: Be Giving.” Read this Friend article with your children about how Jesus was giving. Then pick one or more of the challenges to try as a family.
