Things to Make for Christmas

Mix 2 cups powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons milk, 1 tablespoon butter and then add one stiffly beaten egg white. Green food coloring can be added to frosting if desired.

Cover a pointed ice cream cone with frosting. Decorate frosted cone immediately with popcorn, cake decorations, or small candies.

You can make a special gift with an ordinary glass caster, felt, and a picture of yourself.

Spread a thin layer of clear-drying glue over your picture and then place it face up on the bottom of the caster (see illustration).

Cut a circle of felt the same size as caster and paste onto bottom of caster.

You will need: 1/2 pint glass jar with screw on lid, 2 tablespoons moth flakes, waterproof cement, plastic or china figure (Santa, snowman, reindeer).

Cement figure to the inside of jar lid and let dry overnight. Then fill jar almost to the top with water and add moth flakes. Put cement around sides of lid and screw it to jar tightly. After cement has dried overnight, shake the jar and watch it snow.

Trace patterns on this page, and cut as many of these birdlike decorations as you wish for your Christmas tree. From different colored paper cut both A and B double. Work the two B pieces through the slot in A pieces, bottom first. Fit notches over A and then open B sections and crease them down the middle at front and back. Sew a thread through top of one then other of each A section. Tie loop in thread and hang your new decoration on the tree.
