Quilts and Covers

All the woodland trees keep warm

In autumn’s frosty freeze,

Because they have a patchwork quilt

Snug around their woody knees.

Later, during winter days,

With solar heat turned low,

They are cozy with a blanket

Of the warmest, whitest snow.
