Scripture Bookmark Card

You will need: scissors, glue, lightweight cardboard, 8 1/2″ x 11″ (22 cm x 28 cm) piece of construction paper, and pen.

  1. Cut out bookmark and mount on cardboard.

  2. Fold construction paper in half and cut four slits on outside of card so that bookmark corners will slip into them.

  3. Write Christmas greeting inside card, then sign it.

Candy Cane Christmas Mouse

You will need: felt or construction paper, pencil, scissors, glue, and candy cane.

  1. Make body and ear patterns to fit size of candy cane, then cut body and ears out of doubled felt.

  2. Unfold mouse body; glue candy cane on fold mark, with crook of candy cane at back for tail (see illustration).

  3. Cut ear-width slit in each side of mouse’s head, slip bottom edge of ear inside, and glue in place. Then glue body together at top.

  4. Cut out small circles for eyes, and glue in place.

Christmas Ringing Bells

You will need: paper, scissors, pencil, and felt-tip marker or crayon.

  1. Cut paper into long strip, making it as wide as you want bells to be tall.

  2. Fold one end of strip into square, then accordion-fold remainder of strip into sections same size as first one.

  3. Starting at top left corner, draw top of bell. Draw rest of bell, making sure side of bell partially borders folded side of paper. Don’t forget to include bell’s clapper.

  4. With paper folded, cut out bells, then open and outline each one (see illustration).

  5. Use bells as gift tags or as decorations on doorways, cards, stationery, or packages.

Miniature Crèche

You will need: small, empty matchbox; brown paper; glue; two navy beans; fabric; pen; walnut shell half; real or artificial greenery; and small pebbles.

  1. Cover matchbox with brown paper.

  2. Glue fabric around beans for Mary and Joseph, leaving faces uncovered. Make ink dot facial features.

  3. Make Baby Jesus by gluing closed tiny roll of fabric.

  4. Glue one figure and Baby Jesus inside end of walnut shell half.

  5. Glue shell onto box, then glue second figure to one side of shell.

  6. Add sprig of greenery and pebbles.

Lacy Barrette Holder

You will need: 13″ (33 cm) length of 1 1/2″ (4 cm) ruffled lace, 13″ (33 cm) length of 1/2″ (1.3 cm) ribbon, 12″ x 1″ (30.5 cm x 2.5 cm) strip of corrugated cardboard, stapler, 12″ (30.5 cm) length of 1/4″ (6 mm) ribbon, glue, and barrettes.

  1. Place longer ribbon down middle of lace, then center on top of cardboard strip (see illustration).

  2. Staple or glue one end of ribbon and lace to back of strip. Pull ribbon and lace down front of strip. When taut, staple or glue end to back of strip.

  3. Tie bow with shorter ribbon, and glue to holder for decoration. Note: Clip barrettes to ribbon only.

Paper Wreath

You will need: 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ (9 cm x 17 cm) piece of construction paper, ruler, pencil, scissors, glue, glitter, and ribbon.

  1. Fold paper in half lengthwise; unfold. Fold each long edge to center fold; unfold, and fold in half again.

  2. Cut slits 1/4″ (6 mm) apart from center fold to second fold mark.

  3. Overlap uncut edges and glue together.

  4. Form circle and glue one end of wreath inside other.

  5. Decorate with glitter or paper berries.

  6. Use for candle rings or napkin rings, or glue on ribbon loop and hang.
