“Country Valentine Card,” Friend, Feb. 1995, 10

Country Valentine Card

To make this country valentine card, you will need: 8 1/2″ x 11″ (22 cm x 28 cm) piece of construction paper, a pencil, scissors, scraps of floral or calico print fabric, glue, and a black marker.

  1. Fold the paper in half twice to make a card.

  2. Make a heart pattern that will fit on the front of the card. Trace it onto the fabric and cut it out. Glue the fabric heart to the front of the card and let it dry.

  3. With the black marker, draw dashed lines on the heart to resemble stitches (see illustration).

  4. Write your greeting on the inside of the card.

Use different sizes and numbers of hearts to decorate other cards.
