About Our Cover

The topic of marriage has long been the subject of jokes especially among the unmarried outside of our Church; yet, great men sang paeans for this eternal institution.

Andrew Jackson, 7th President of the United States (1829–1837), expostulated on the subject, saying “Heaven will be no Heaven to me if I do not meet my wife there.” The poet Alfred Tennyson, in “Aylmer’s Field”, wrote this line: Marriages are made in Heaven.

Above these are the inspired verses of Scripture.

Thus, while the issue is not dedicated to marriage, an institution from which a man cannot ever hope to be released, so to speak, we have assumed the privilege of presenting a cover on marriage, banking on support by tradition, the thoughts of great men and, above all, the sacredness adhering to this eternal covenant by the Scriptures.

Our cover, the second and probably the last for this year with a “localized” presentation, is not complimented by an article in this issue treating of marriage. But, the month of June, a traditional month for marriage here and elsewhere, singularly offers the justification for a bridal cover.
