Legacy

When the twilight fades and when my hurried day

is just an echo in the hills of time,

what will remain of all I tried to say:

the lancet prose, the anesthetic rhyme,

and probing drama? Well, perhaps just this:

a word of silence, one heart-rendered song,

and now, as ever since life’s genesis,

the timeless cry of art that was too long.
