“A New Star Shines Tonight,” New Era, Dec. 1988, 12–13

In Tune:

A New Star Shines Tonight

Somewhere far away the herald angels sing

and somewhere in the night there lies a newborn king.

Is He warm, is He sheltered by His mother’s loving care?

Does the Holy Spirit fill the heart of those who enter there?

Somewhere far away the herald angels sing

and somewhere in the night there lies a newborn king.

Did they wrap Him in fine linen with a pillow for His head.

Do they know this little one’s fulfilling all the scriptures said?

I saw a new star rising in the east.

I saw a new star, it’s light will never cease.

If only I could be there to see this heav’nly sight,

but no, it’s enough for me that a new star shines tonight.

I hope He knows His other sheep are waiting anxiously,

and that we love this little one who’s born across the sea.

Are the people of Jerusalem bowed in humble praise?

Do they know this little one will give His life their souls to save?

I saw a new star rising in the east.

I saw a new star, it’s light will never cease.

If only I could be there to see this heav’nly sight,

but no, it’s enough for me that a new star shines tonight.
