This website has been created to answer questions individuals may have regarding how to offer support, comfort, and an increased understanding and acceptance toward persons with disabilities. The disabilities site contains information on general disabilities and some of the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities, families, and Church leaders.
Sometimes, in the case of disabilities, individuals may react unintentionally with fear, rejection, or discomfort. Often these reactions are due to inadequate information and inexperience. Learning about a person increases understanding and acceptance for a person with a disability. As we worship together, all can experience, as Paul taught, the “peace of God, which passeth all understanding” (Philippians 4:7).
As you seek to understand the disability and the needs and gifts of individuals with disabilities, remember that prayer, fasting, and pondering the scriptures prepares one to receive the direction needed. The suggestions and information on this site should be considered in the light of one’s circumstances and personal inspiration.
